Jordan Daniel

Whether Jordan is writing acoustically under moniker Borderline Angelic, scratching out club beats with experimental project Electric Dreams Fantasy Boy, exploring 8-bit sounds and field recording with the electronic Pareidolia, or even playing homage to David Byrne and early ska in Captain Sizzle At The CBGB - the founder of Sudden Epidemic and the "voice" of Jane Lane plays music wherever he goes.

When not dancing the tango with lady Music herself, Jordan enjoys croquet, Regina Spektor, cooking, The Dark Knight, Magic: The Gathering, composition notebooks, horror movies, Terry Gilliam, concerts, quidditch, Blue Indigo, Mel Brooks, Richard Linklater, Photoshop, the internet, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, milk, Stanley Kubrick, new wave, Moog, the color pink, and the number 136.

You And Me And The Beautiful Aerial View Of Sunset City

In an attempt to connect the proverbial dots - all the things I have mentioned in past entries - I will be posting a new music selection weekly.  These posts will only be available to followers of MMLI (gasp).  So, I figured we'd start this off the future weeks with a bang:

Braid
Frame & Canvas
Released: 1998
Label: Polyvinyl

Wow, Braid.  What to say...?  Founded 1993 in Champaign, Illinois.  Something I like to call "emo" - the musical energy brought forth by bands such as Rites Of Spring and Sunny Day Real Estate, NOT the mass-produced glamourization of shaggy haircuts, eyeliner on boys, and Gerard Way.  Braid is considered to be one of the most influential acts of their time - a fantastic bridge between the hardcore foundations of Dischord Records (most famously Fugazi) and bands with deeper pop roots such as Jimmy Eat World.  If I haven't already convinced you that you have to listen to this, would the fact that Alternative Press hailed "Frame & Canvas" as the #10 emo album of all time help?  Check it.
